Smith Duck Farm

Ann Smith’s Duck Farm Tin Barn, 2018
Exterior restored by KIFI
Historic Ann Smith Duck Farm, c. 1960s

The Historic Smith Duck Farm, located on the corner of Bay Avenue and Montauk Highway, is a 10-acre Brookhaven Town Park adjacent to the Terrell River. This park allows for beautiful vistas across the Terrell River to the Terrell River County Park, a 260-acre preserve. It was purchased for educational parkland by Brookhaven Town, and Ketcham Inn Foundation was granted stewardship of the property in 2013. As steward, the Foundation has cleaned up the 10-acre site of surface debris, has trimmed up the trees, and keeps the property mowed and presentable. Each building has been reviewed for required preservation and restoration to be used for educational and cultural purposes. The site retains 9 structures all in different states of stabilization. The first building that received significant work was the 1970 Butler barn, now used for fundraising activities to help maintain the buildings and site.
